Sweet Home - Refurbishing Teak Garden Table

Our Teak Garden Table is almost 20 years old and is now receiving a new protective coat of paint. Unlike other materials, teak wood is sustainable and can be refurbished over and over again. First the old layer has to be carefully sanded down. With two different sanding papers the old layer is sanded away. Once with a 60 sandpaper and later the procedure is repeated with a 120 sandpaper. To remove the sanding dust, the table is washed with plenty of clean water. To avoid water spots, the table is carefully dried with a towel.
Once washed and dried in the sun, the oil layer can be applied. Wood oil has proved to be the best, as the wood oil penetrates well into the teak wood.
However, even in this case it needs at least two layers of wood oil. The two layers are applied with an interval of 24 hours.
The result is impressive, the Teak Garden Table is now as new again.
