A small walnut tree, only a few days old, had sprouted all on its own in our garden. Without further ado, we decided to transplant it and plant it next to the pétanque court to provide shade. There was just one catch: it would take several years before the shade would be usable. So we needed a bigger tree that would grow faster. At our nearby garden center, we found just what we were looking for: a linden tree—a beautiful and already quite large silver linden tree.

The little walnut tree now had to make way for the silver linden tree. We planted it a little further away in a new, beautiful spot where it can grow undisturbed.
Of course, the existing hole had to be enlarged for the newcomer. And our friendly neighbor came over to help set the silver linden tree upright. Now the linden tree, together with the pine tree, will provide pleasant shade on the petanque court.
